Kim's Story

Where We Started

In 2009, Kim Wilson became an accidental entrepreneur when she took over an abandoned gas station on Roswell Road. Inspired by her own vegetable garden, Kim visited the local farmer’s market every morning to select outstanding seasonal produce. She sold her bounty out of her new storefront, excited to offer high-quality produce with character. To this day, we still carry the best of the best, including local products from Georgia and our surrounding states. We also have provisions from Italy and France, sea-salt caramels from Oregon, and wines from all over the world. If the item is great, it belongs on our shelves.

"I really think of those early days quite often because those days really define me and reflect who I am as a person. I knew it would be a lot of hard work and we might struggle at times, but was always positive that things would ultimately work out for me and my family."

Meet Kim

Kim Wilson established Lucy’s Market in 2009. Kim, who liked to play in the dirt, spent a number of years growing an extensive vegetable garden. After working in advertising sales for over 25 years, she was ready for a career change. When a small location unexpectedly became available, Kim seized the opportunity, ultimately realizing her vision to be the go-to destination for fresh produce in the heart of Buckhead.

Kim's love for her daughter and grandmother—they share the name Lucy—inspired the name of the market. A mom of two young children, Kim's daily routine started with a trip to the farmer's market to handpick the freshest product from her trusted growers, after which she would return home to get the kids ready for the day.

Kim fondly remembers the kids sitting on boxes of fresh fruits and veggies on their way to school drop-off. Then she would head to the market's outdoor location and open up shop, setting the produce out on display in the morning, selling all day, then packing up each night. Eventually Kim took over the space inside the former gas station, and the business had a true home.

Lucy's Market is now located in the heart of Buckhead, and it's a bustling shop filled with aisles of prepared foods, flowers, gifts, and (of course!) only the best fruit and vegetables that you can find in Atlanta. And while the locations and product selections have changed over the years, we still have many loyal customers from our very first spot in 2009.

"My team helps decide what will meet the needs of our customers and we scour the marketplace to find those items and make them available.I think this operating philosophy helps define Lucy’s style and gives it its “charm”. We are really just a big family helping our customers’ families live easier, better lives."
